Formed in the heart of North County San Diego, Wither is a progressive metal band known for delivering emotionally resonant music that fuses atmosphere, melody, and raw heaviness. What began as impromptu jam sessions between brothers Keith Edelman (guitar, vocals), Jeff Edelman (keyboards, vocals), and longtime friend Micah Cummins (lead guitar) quickly evolved into a full-fledged creative force. The group eventually welcomed Eric Goldy on bass and Tony Rangel on drums — solidifying Wither as a five-piece defined by chemistry, depth, and intention.
Their sound walks the line between power and restraint, blending the weight of doom and classic heavy metal with the nuance of progressive arrangements, cinematic textures, and ambient emotion. Some members lean into vintage metal, while others bring in baroque influences, jazz sensibilities, or rhythmic experimentation. The result is a layered and immersive sonic identity — heavy but thoughtful, dark but deeply human.
Wither’s songwriting process is as diverse as its members. For some, songs arrive fully formed — melodies, lyrics, even instrumentation beamed in like transmissions. For others, ideas emerge through experimentation, texture, and collaboration. There’s no single formula — just a deep creative trust built through years of playing, listening, and growing together. No matter the origin, every track bears the fingerprint of all five voices.
To date, Wither has released three full-length albums — Origin, Breakthrough, and The Twisted Fall — each exploring different sonic landscapes while staying grounded in the band’s emotional core. Lyrically, they explore themes like grief, mythology, personal rebirth, loss, and reflection — always searching for the light within the dark.
On stage, Wither has built a reputation for powerful, immersive live performances across Southern California. They’ve played iconic venues like The Whisky a Go-Go, Brick by Brick, SOMA San Diego, Ramona Mainstage, Universal Bar and Grill, 4th & B, The Jumping Turtle, and Las Vegas Comic-Con — sharing the stage with acts such as Lacuna Coil, Drowning Pool, King Diamond, Moonspell, Queensrÿche, and Devin Townsend.
But more than a band, Wither is a lifeline — a brotherhood born from long friendships and forged through shared struggle and creativity. Their music is built on trust, tension, and truth. And for the fans who’ve followed them, listened deeply, and stood in the crowd — you’re part of that story too.
