Wither is playing @ The Roadies Brewing Co. on June 20th. Come see us play with Nails, a Nine Inch Nails Tribute Band!
Keith Edelman’s journey into metal began at 16, a path sparked by a summer of manual labor to afford his first guitar. Driven by the foundational power of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Candlemass, Keith found in Wither more than just a musical project—it became a vital vessel for emotional expression.
While metal often thrives on aggression, Keith intentionally carves out a different space. His songwriting explores complex landscapes of grief, mythology, and resilience. His guiding principle is one of "layers of simplicity," rooted in the belief that the space between notes is as vital as the notes themselves.
"Playing in Wither is my main creative release. I get into the right mindset by trusting the hard work we’ve put in—trusting each member to do their job."
Though his roots are firmly planted in heavy metal, Keith’s compositions are informed by a wide-reaching sonic palette. From the ambient textures of Tangerine Dream and the progressive expansiveness of Yes to the precision of classical symphonies and jazz, these influences give Wither its distinct, immersive identity. His "no-guilty-pleasures" attitude also finds him embracing everything from 80s J-Pop to vintage country.
Keith’s stage presence is fueled by chemistry and history. His favorite memories range from the legendary atmosphere of The Whisky a Go-Go to high-energy accidents—like a mid-show collision with his brother Jeff that resulted in a perfectly timed, unintentional acrobatic roll.
Offstage, Keith’s life reflects a different kind of intensity. A student of psychology who works professionally with animals, he finds balance in the sprawling lore of the Horus Heresy, the survival horror of Dead Space, and cult classics like Army of Darkness.
For Keith, Wither is a living community. He finds his personal mission reflected in the lyrics of the song "Malkuth":
“Unite, my brothers, I have waited here so long to find you. Sweet sisters, bind the ties with your embrace.”
To the fans who have joined this journey, his message is simple: “Thank you for giving all this a life of its own.”
